In the midst of winter here is a bright party theme to warm you up and make you smile! I love the idea of this sunny theme based around the song “You are my sunshine”.
I’ve incorporated some ideas based around sunshine, sunflowers and ‘Little Miss Sunshine’, however you could really use most of these items for any yellow theme party such as a Rubber Ducky or a Buzz buzz bee theme! You could also combine yellow with a pastel pink or purple if you want more of a girly feel, or combine with a baby blue or light grey for a boy.
It makes for a great first birthday party or baby shower (lovely to celebrate the little one’s who are yet to arrive!).
So if you are ready for some sun in the middle of this winter, sit back, browse and enjoy….
First off let me share these gorgeous milk cake stands which come in the beautiful Buttercream colour you can see which would really highlight any yellow touches in your cake as well as looking so sweet on the table!
If you prefer a darker shade of yellow then this Amber stand shown here in a smaller size (but available in other sizes) would be great either for a cake or for displaying other treats:
To top off your cake, have a look at this precious cake bunting! This is a great way of dressing up a simple cake if you don’t have the time to decorate the cake yourself or the money to order a custom cake:
For another great effect on your cake, try these 6 inch yellow celebration candles!
To bring some sunshine to your party area I love this Sunshine fabric bunting. It has a mix of delightful yellow patterns and would brighten up any room in your home afterwards:
This paper sunburst hanging decoration totally compliments a sunshine theme and would look great combined with the below paper lantern:
Love this giant yellow balloon for another sunshine party effect! Rather than being hung these could be attached as a row of single balloons attached to balloon sticks and stood on the table itself.
Party hat’s have come a long way haven’t they? Check out these yellow daisy fabric hats! They would double as a take home gift as well for the little one’s!
Those of you in Sydney will love these mini yellow chairs to hire for this party! Am sure you can find similar in other states, so this is just to give you the idea of what could be out there:
Another alternative are these ultra cute stools from Ikea!
For some bright table decor you could use this lovely tablerunner on top of a white tablecloth:
Then team up this square plate with the yellow patterned napkins:
These milk bottles come in a beautiful lemon or Buttercup colour! Can you imagine how gorgeous they would look?
Can’t get enough of paper straws around here….!
Pop some homemade lemonade into this fabulous beverage dispenser to add an extra burst of yellow onto the table as well as being a great item to bring out at all your parties!:
You could also use this vibrant handmade yellow jug for a bold splash of colour:
For your sunshiny cupcakes, brighten up your table decor with this yellow cupcake stand:
The design of these cupcake wrappers remind me of rays of sun going into the clouds….Ahhh…. =)
If you are takingĀ a ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ spin on this theme, then these adorable toppers would dress up any cupcake!
Sunflowers totally work with this theme and I’m loving this unique idea of a tissue sun-flower. These come with the stem and leaves (not the pot) or you can also order flower pom’s without the stem.
An extra special touch on your table or around your party area is a canvas or print which you can then hang up later as a reminder of this special day. Here are a few lovely one’s I found for this theme to remind your little one how special they are!
As much as we all love yellow, it isn’t always the easiest colour to find candy in. Here are some delicious finds in this sunny colour:
If you are after some sunshine printables here are 2 great picks! One is based on “My Little Sunshine” and includes everything you could possibly need for your party! The second is a cute “Our Little Miss Sunshine” invite which also has other matching items if you follow the link.
Finally ending with some take home lovelies, these pom pom sticks are just magical aren’t they? They come in a smaller size also and make a really special take home gift which carries on the Sunshine theme well.
I love the idea of giving a book as a favour (it’s the teacher in me!) – it’s useful and will be a nice reminder of your little one every time their friends read this story!
If you are planning on giving some sweets as a take home gift, then this little tin is so cute!
Or these self-standing striped lolly bags are lovely and allow a bit more room!:
You could top off your packaging with a lovely ribbon….
Or add a thank you tag using these cute little pegs!
Well I hope you feel all warm and sunny inside after all that yellow I’ve thrown at you! It is such a versatile & happy colour and one which really matches the joy of childhood !
Hope you enjoyed these finds and they help you on your way of celebrating your little one’s!

Very good blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m
a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go
for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m totally confused .. Any ideas? Appreciate it!
